Claire Coffee‘s first small-screen gig was a loud and proud affair.
Proud, because she had nabbed a small part on HBO’s The Mind of the Married Man while she was still in college. And loud, because… well, we’ll let her tell it.

“I had, I think, all of three lines, and the director came over. He’s like, ‘Claire, you don’t have to talk so loud. We have a mic right there,’” she says, laughing. “I had come from stage and theater – I thought I had to talk loud!”

Coffee's experience in the first season of the USA fan favorite (she played a Civil War re-enactor) was a hairy affair. "They were worried that I looked too much like Maggie [Lawson], so they had me dye my hair," she says. Then, later, there wasn't time for a wash-n-style before another set-up. "So that's why, in the last scene, it looks like I've put my finger in a light socket."
